Bill Ostrom offers one of the best custom-design services for backpacks, load carriage systems and unique bags, duffle bags, and vests/clothing – anything that can be sewn from nylon fabric, plastic, webbing etc. For example:

A prototype fine-tunes the design before going to mass production. A Technical Data Package includes patterns, materials specifications and assembly/manufacturing instructions. It teaches you and the successful bidder what standards you expect in terms of quality, stitch count, reinforcement, materials etc.

The result is a set of rules that a manufacturer has to follow when they make your product. If they don’t meet these specifications, then you can decide the consequences. A well-designed prototype and Technical Data package saves money down the road because mistakes are reduced and quality is improved.

Custom Service for Everyone

BASIC: Suspension system (back frame, shoulder straps, hip belt) on all packs is selected to fit the individual. No charge.
CUSTOM OPTIONS: Removable options (e.g. day pack front pocket) and sewn on extras (e.g. daisy chains, side zipper). Priced accordingly.
CUSTOM COLOURS: Custom colour charge is $20 for packs under 50 litres; and $30 for packs over 50 litres.
CUSTOM SOLUTIONS: One of a kind custom made packs and bags. Priced individually.
PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT: For industry and specialty groups who wish to develop a product specific to their needs. E.g. Bill designed the Clothe the Soldier (Canadian Army) Internal Frame Rucksack, and Medic Bag.
